How to check influencer audience demographics: country, age and gender

Last reviewed October 24, 2026

Quick answerAsk the creator for their audience insights, then run Modash's free checker for audience country and gender. A HypeAuditor report adds location down to city, read from engaged followers, and an age estimate.

How to check influencer audience demographics in three steps

To check influencer audience demographics before you pay, take three steps, from the cheapest to the most detailed. The same steps answer how to check an influencer's audience on Instagram, with TikTok covered where it differs.

  1. Ask the creator for their own audience insights.
  2. Run a free check for audience country and gender.
  3. For a creator you will pay, read a report's location and age.

Ask the creator for their own audience insights

Both platforms show audience data to the account owner, so the step is to ask the creator to share it. Meta says a public Instagram account gets free insights that include the top locations and age range of its followers and, for accounts reached, top countries, top cities, age ranges and gender. Meta labels these metrics estimated.

On TikTok, the creator finds the Followers tab under Analytics. It shows gender, age and top locations. TikTok says that data rests partly on information people give in their profiles, and that its Viewers page uses predictive models rather than confirmed user data. Keep the figures the creator sends and compare them with a checker's.

Free checks of audience country and gender

Modash's free checker shows audience location by country and the gender split, with no sign-up, and its page calls the tool a free, limited version of its paid product. Heepsy's free tool also needs no sign-up, but its page says some metrics need a Heepsy account. Compare both tools' country and gender figures with the creator's own insights.

How report data on location and age is estimated

A HypeAuditor report estimates a creator's audience location from the active, engaged audience, at country level and, where available, by state and city. So the location describes followers who engage, not every follower. Age is a model estimate drawn from public profile images and shown in standard ranges. HypeAuditor calls the results statistical estimates rather than verified personal information.

For TikTok, HypeAuditor reads audience country from publicly available location information and age and gender from avatar images, and its help center says demographics can be missing for a small account. For an Instagram report, the help center lists a public profile and a post in the last 90 days, and HypeAuditor focuses on accounts with more than 1,000 followers.

Is the audience in the US and the right age?

Decide your target before you read any report: the share of the audience you need in the United States and the age ranges your product serves. Then read the location share and the age ranges together, because a creator based in the US can have followers elsewhere.

Most HypeAuditor reports are generated within one to two hours, per its help center. The HypeAuditor review covers what its reports include and where they stop.

For a handful of creators a year, the creator's insights plus Modash's free check give country and gender at no cost. Move to a report when age matters or when you vet creators every month.

Collabstr is a creator marketplace, not an analytics tool. If you hire through it, its Pro plan is $249 a month billed annually, adds a 10% hiring fee on each order and includes 20 audience reports a month with demographic detail, per Collabstr's pricing page.

How to spot fake influencers covers fake followers, and the influencer fake followers checker guide lists the free tools. Modash's audience check is free with no sign-up, and HypeAuditor's free trial is arranged through its sales team; ask whether it covers location and age.
